My Little Girl is now a Lady

June 1, 1998, Shemar was born, a very healthy, chubby beautiful baby. She is the 3rd kid of my sister Ethel and bro Arwin. I have known her for the past 18 years and I was there while she was growing up. I used to baby sit her while she was a kid. She is loved by every one in the family. She is talented, she can dance gracefully and has a passion for arts.

I can't imagine how time flies so fast for my little girl is now a lady. Today is her 18th birthday; it’s her debut. I wish I am there to be a part of the celebration. Shem, though I am miles away from you but you are think about on your birthday and everyday.

Have a happy birthday to my beautiful niece Shemar. I wish you good health, more blessings and more birthdays to come. Don't rush on things prioritize your studies for that is the only possession that can't be taken away from you; and finishing your studies is the best gift you can give to your parents.

Once again Happy, happy birthday to you! God Bless YOU always.

Knitted Basket Weave Baby Blanket

Finally my knitted basket weave baby blanket I made for my friend Anna is already finished. She is almost to deliver her first baby before she goes on maternity leave I have to give her the blanket for her baby. She still doesn’t know whether it’s a baby girl or baby boy. She said she like the colors beige and brown.
Last Monday, May 26, 2008 I brought the blanket to work and gave it to her. She was very happy to see for it’s the color that she liked.
Hope this blanket will give warmth to her baby. To Anna good luck to motherhood and have a safe delivery.

Shift Change

At present I am working afternoon shift from 2-10 p.m., Mon-Friday and I have the weekend’s days off. Todd and I worked the same shift everyday. Since we have two dogs, our neighbor is our pet sitter and it cost us money too around $160.00 every month. At work last night I was thinking of just requesting for a change of shift just to save the money we have been paying to the dog sitter.

Today while I was at work I talked to my supervisor about my changing my schedule to (9:00 am– 5:00 pm Mon-Fri or 10:00 am-6:00 pm. Mon-Fri). She told me to fill up the request for shift change and it’s up to our Operations Manager to approve it or not.

I am hoping they will grant my request, just keeping my fingers cross and if not better luck next time.

US Memorial Day

Today May 26, 2008 is the US Memorial Day. We were only open till five o’clock today since our clients are US based. Supposedly I am only working two hours for I work afternoons and my shift starts at 3 p.m. My manager told me to come an hour earlier at least to work three hours. How I wish they cancel the afternoon shift but it’s a lot better working for 3 hours than nothing. I was off early today at five o’clock can’t wait to come especially when it was still very sunny outside. It feels so nice to be out of the office still at the day time for I always miss this opportunity. The only thing that is letting my stay to work afternoons is my weekends off.

Vacationing in Ontario for Summer

I got an email from my best friend in college telling me she is planning to visit my place. She is now working in Dubai, UAE. I was happy and excited to know about it. We have not seen each other for three years now. We send her a letter of invitation to support her tourist visa application for Canada. It would be nice if she can come the same time while my sisters are visiting to my place; the more the merrier. She is also excited for her trip and we have planned her itinerary when she comes.

Hopefully her visa will be approved in time for the scheduled invitation.

We will see you soon Shlvs!

Joy Ride

The weather is gorgeous today sunny and cool. This morning Todd and I with our dogs went for a car ride to get some mulch for our garden. We dropped off to my brother-in- law’s house to change the tire of the utility trailer. Misty and Joel were very excited and happy as we arrived to JP’s house. They were just in the car waiting till the tire was installed for JP sprayed his lawn with chemicals to kill the weeds. We didn’t go to the mulch place for JP had an extra of two bags of mulch we just bought it from him. We went home and put the red mulch on our garden it turned out beautiful but the two bags were not enough to cover the whole garden. We will get another two bags later tonight.

At noon our friends show up in the house in their motorcycle. We went for a ride with them to Dunnville, Ontario about an hour drive from our place. It was a nice ride on the bike the air was very fresh and on the way you can see beautiful sceneries. Though it was sunny but the air is cold, I have to put my hands on the pocket of my jacket for I didn’t wear my gloves. . As we passed by the bridge there were lots of people on their boat going on fishing. We stopped by at Grand Island BBQ Burgers, to have some chow. They have good food we had some banquet burger (cheeseburger w/ pea meal bacon), poutine and vanilla milk shakes. They food were yummy. Dunville is cold for it is close by the lake. After eating we were thinking of going to Bing Island it’s a camp ground about 10 minutes away but our friends wanted to head back home. Too bad i forget to bring my camera we could have took pictures by the lake.

We met a lot of bikers on our way there and back too. It was fun though but my neck hurts from my helmet it’s heavy and my back too for the bike has no back rest.

It will be more enjoyable come summer time when weather will be sunny and the air won’t be cold.

Have a nice Saturday everyone!

Spring Garden Clean Up and Fixing

Since the garden lights were already installed last weekend, during the week it was already in the plan we will clean up the garden and put new mulch on top of it. It was raining this morning we decided to do it tomorrow. We have to get mulch and garden stones tomorrow hopefully weather will be sunny. I have to put fertilizer to my flowers to be ready for the blooming season.

I have different colors of mums in my garden and they are annual flowers. Mums are great they sparkle with brilliance during the fall season while other flowers are fading. They love the sun. I have dark orange, yellow, maroon and purple in the front. Aside from mums I have red and pink roses as well. The good thing for mums when they bloom the flowers last a long time before they wither. I will be posting some pictures when they start to bloom just couldn’t finds last year’s pictures.

Missing Krismar

This morning when I went online to check my mails, my cousin left me message that she has a visitor my niece Krismar from Davao. I replied to her message and 10 year niece Krismar said “hi myh it’s me kikis”. I’m glad to chat with her and saw her on the web cam. She is pretty and still has her curly hair. Her typing is slow so I have to wait for her reply. I miss her especially she was making faces on the web cam. I tried to call thru yahoo but my cousin’s microphone doesn’t work. I ask how are her other siblings doing back in Davao and glad that they are all Ok especially his Kuya Niño who just had Hypokalemia (Potassium Deficiency). She is enjoying her short stay in Cebu my cousin will bring her to their company’s sports festival and will also attend a kid’s birthday party tomorrow. They will fly back to Davao on Monday, May 19, 2008.

I miss you Krismar. Hope to see you again.

May Two-four Long Weekend

It will be a long weekend for us here in Canada as we celebrate the Victoria Day on Monday, May 19, 2008. It’s a statutory holiday; it’s called as May Two-four or May Run or May Long; to honor Queen Victoria’s birthday and Queen Elizabeth II. This is also often celebrated with fireworks. It is also regarded as the beginning of the unofficial summer season in Canada were many businesses, parks, camp grounds will be open this weekend.
Last year Victoria Day we went on camping at Four Mile Creek. It is nice to be off from work for few days to relax and unwind but no camping for us today for the weather was not good. It has been raining this morning. It went sunny for awhile but its chilly outside. It’s getting cloudy and glooming looks like rain will pour again.

Happy Victoria Day to all!

Garden Lights

All of our garden lights in the front loan are busted. Those lights were so old already that they need to be replaced. We were already thinking of buying a replacement. Today we went to Wal-mart to look around stuff they have in the garden section. It took us a while to decide; which is the best light to buy in terms of quality and price wise. We found the 8 lights set solar powered garden lights for the front and 3 lights solar powered spotlight for the back for my little garden where the windmill is.

It was raining on our way home, Todd said he won’t be able to do it today might be tomorrow. While I was making some entry for my blogg he said if I could have a minute to come down. He was outside and I said if he need something and he said look down and there I saw the garden lights already installed.

Garden lights in the front and spotlights for the back garden are all done. The next weekend we need to get more mulch and cover the mess from the old lights. I wanted to put some stones around our garden.

Thank you babe for doing the work even there was still rain showers.

Busy as a Bee on a Saturday

It was still Friday morning and Todd was already preparing his stuff to bring over to the border for Saturday. He needed to have his motorcycle serviced at Harley Davidson shop in Buffalo, New York. He had to hook on the motorcycle trailer to his truck getting ready to load the motorcycle in the morning. Saturday came we woke up early to avoid and the traffic at the bridge and to be there before the shop opens. At first I was thinking of not going with him for he was advised it will take the rest of the day for them to do the job. The last minute I change my mind. I helped him load his motorcycle that was my first time to push a vehicle up on the ramp, omg, it was heavy.

We left the house at 7:30 am and lucky to crossed at the Peace Bridge for there was no delay at all. We arrived at the shop at 8:45 am which perfect timing. I’m glad I change my mind for he needed help to unload his motorcycle. At 9:00 am they opened which was our appointment also but they had finished some work that they did the previous day.

While waiting for the work to be done we just went for breakfast to the Family Tree Restaurant, which was walking distance from the shop. They served very yummy breakfast we both had ham and cheese omelet with toast and potato on the side. After breakfast we wanted to go to the Walden Galleria Mall which is also close but were worried of leaving the motorcycle trailer unattended we just decided to stay and wait in the truck.

Good thing that they finished the work around 1:00 pm and had to do test drive which it turned out good. We load it back again to the trailer and head home straight for our two doggies were left more than 5 hours already. We arrived home at around 2:30 pm and had to unload it again.

At the end of the day we both got tired and had a nap. At least it was all was done, we couldn’t get it done here at home for the shop is fully booked.

The motorcycle is ready for a ride this summer and will have an enjoyable trip with it.

Happy Mother's Day

Today mother’s day is the day we honor our mother’s for the love, care and all the sacrifices she have given to her children. We may call her mama, nanay, ima, mommy and so much more; we can never repay our mother’s sacrifices until we become one. Most of times they are misunderstood by their children especially with their constant reminders to their kids, those reminders are her way of showing that she care and love her children.

It has been three years now that I have not celebrated the occasion with my mama for we live far from each other thousand of miles away. I send her mother’s day card and call her on the phone. I know she is getting old and has been sickly lately. I thank the Lord for extending her life. I would like to THANK her for bringing me into this world and for molding me to who am I now. She may not be the perfect mother in the world but without her I won’t be here also. She may have shortcomings but she have molded us five of her children to become better person. I miss her “hamonada” recipe and her “utan bisaya”. To Mama Yol all of us your children would like to thank you and would like to let you know that we LOVE and CARE for you. Most of your kids are far from you but we are thinking of you. Hope we will see each other again.

Happy Mother’s day to my sisters Ethel, Lany and Grace; you are such a great mom to your kids. I am proud of the job you have done. I don’t know how it feels to be a mom for I don’t have kids of my own. I’m sure it feels good for even my nephews and nieces call me Auntie Mommy it even feels awesome. Grace doesn’t have a kids too and also waiting; wish she can have soon. I am also looking forward to be a mother, hope I can be one soon.

To my relatives and friends who are mothers happy mother’s day to you. You all deserved to be treated like a QUEEN on your day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Potassium Deficiency (Hypokalemia)

My nephew was diagnosed with Potassium Deficiency (Hypokalemia) last Monday, May 5, 2008. His potassium level was so low that he just collapsed while playing basketball after coming from his hospital duty. His friends had to lift him back to his house. The doctor said he is lucky to make it one time before any cardiac arrest happened. The incident happened during the day but had to wait for his parents to be home for they were out of town. They had to rush him to Davao Doctors Hospital. When I talked to my sister she said she was so nervous and sad upon seeing his son that only his head can moved and was crying for help. He was paralyzed for two days nothing can move. It started from his feet up to his legs, arms and fingers. When they were at the hospital his blood pressure even went to 160/100 too high for a 21 year old. Glad that they are out of the hospital now and he is back to normal but was advised by the doctor to stop playing basketball and to take enough rest.

Lord we thank you for saving Niño and for giving him another chance to live. Thank you also to all the doctors that have helped him and to his siblings Em em, Shemar and Krismar who were there and never left him while waiting for their parents.

I also talked to him on the phone and he was crying saying the incident was so scary thought he will die. I told him to take care of his health and to eat foods that are high in potassium like bananas, oranges.

Fish and Chips

I missed eating fried foods. Today for dinner I have made up my mind to have fish and chips. Before going to get some groceries I thawed the tilapia fillet. The fillets were already thawed when we came back. The beer batter dip added flavor to the tilapia fillet, I coated them before loading to the deep fryer. It came out yummy and crunchy but some of it stick to the basket of the fryer, I don’t know why.

The second round for frying was the fries. It didn’t take so long only about three minutes and dinner was ready to be served. For dessert I bake bread crumbs with honey and butter; and top it with fruit cocktail with cream and chill.

Though fried foods is not good for the health but once in a while is OK. I miss eating the fresh fish from the ocean. Back home I don’t eat tilapia it’s only when I arrived here in Canada that I have tried it.

We had a yummy dinner and now its time to clean up the kitchen.

No Show Buyer

This post is in connection with my post entitled "As we say goodbye to our fifth wheel trailer" What kind of a buyer we have met? This guy is not even honest to himself. He said he will be bringing his bank draft on the Thursday, May 1 for he wanted it to be delivered on his site on that day but he we didn't see a shadow of him at all. The night before i told Todd i have a feeling the guy won't come tomorrow. I think I was right with my doubts. We waited the rest of the day but he never showed. We don't know what was his reasons for he didnt phone us back too. We caught the guy so many lies in our conversation with him during the negotiation. I said to my husband we are still lucky the deal wasn't closed for we might be in trouble.
Well we still have it and we might be using it this coming Victoria Day the long weekend. We might go to Four Mile to camp.
