Last header picture I had in my blog was taken on at the morning star mill during the fall season. That was my first fall here in Ontario. The colors of the leaves were very vibrant and beautiful. That was the best fall I have seen for the succeding fall seasons the colors of the leaves weren't that attractive and they didn't last long also.

Today I have decided to change to have a new look. It was taken during our camping at Four Mile Creek, NY last July 2008. It was late in afternoon when the picture was taken. You can see the beautiful scenic view of the campground and the sunset light reflecting on the clouds.

This is the place to go if you want to relax and unwind after a long week of work.

Off for Weekend Camping

This weekend we are going for camping to Four Mile Creek State Park in NY and back by Monday. Though it will just be for the weekend, it will be fun and a relaxing weekend for Todd and myself. It is nice to enjoy after a long weekday of working. We will go for a walk on the park with our doggies. I still have to load the trailer for stuff we need to bring. I will be posting pictures when we come back.

Camping at Allegany State Park

I am glad that summer is here again get to enjoy the sunny weather for it doesn’t last all year round where we are living. My husband and I had been off for a week from work for our annual summer camp. We decided to go to Allegany State Park in Salamanca, New York. It was almost two hours drive from home. We left on the 5th of July last Saturday towing our trailer with our dogs Misty and Joel. We were both excited for this trip for my husband has been there while he was still a kid and it was my first time to be in that park too.

There was a bit of a wait at the Peace Bridge on the border especially that I still have to stop at the custom’s office to renew my pass for the United States. It took us about 45 minutes to wait for our papers to be inspected at the border and another 20 minute wait for my name to be called to be issued a renewal border pass.

Allegany State Park is a very huge park you can either choose to stay at Red House or at Quaker we were booked at Quaker Park, Cain Hollow Loop C site #49. You need to have a pedal bike or a motorcycle to get to other places of the park. I was amazed to see the beautiful landscape sceneries, lake, forest, and the mountains. They have a lot of trails for hiking (bear hiking trail) and some of their camp sites are along the creek. It is really cool at night you can hear the water flowing. Though the site we where in was the last available hydro site that we weren’t happy about it for weeds and grass was just over grown and it was on the forest side with an open swamp it has stagnant water in it. We learned our lesson not to go back to that site and listed the beautiful camp sites along the creek. It was just a huge park that it was so hard to keep up the maintenance of the park.

Though our site was not the greatest we still had fun camping at the Allegany State Park. We had our camp fire for two nights, had our early morning walk along the park and we did went to Pennsylvania for Quaker Park is just between the boundary of NY and PA. We pack up on Tuesday, 8th of July not to head home but to move to another park closer to home at Four Mile Creek, in Robert Moses Parkway, NY.

As We Say Goodbye to our 25 Ft Fifth Wheel Trailer

Three years ago we bought a 25 ft fifth wheel trailer for us to use when we go camping on summer time and to go on trips. Though the trailer is 20 years old model but nothing is wrong with it. It has a new fridge and new hot water tank and the interior is clean. We are so lucky when we bought it for it was well taken care by the previous owners. Since we have it we might have used it probably less than ten times.

Our first trip with the trailer we went up north in Madoc, 4 hours drive from our house. We stayed there for couple of days the trailer made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Its like a little house as well everything is there.

The last time we used was on July 2007, we had a week off from work we went to Four Mile Creek with our two doggies. The fifth wheel made our stay very comfortable all through the week. It was easy and safe to leave the dogs inside every time we go to town to buy something.

We bought the unit thinking we can tow it to Tennessee or to South Carolina every time we visit my sisters. We wanted to try to use it for our trips but the truck we got has a small engine that it might take us forever to get to our destination. Just lately, with the price of gas going up so high that with a truck towing a fifth wheel it would cost us a fortune, we have decided to scale back. Scaling back for the future for as projected gas will go up to $1.40 a liter on the summer. The truck and fifth wheel have been listed on paper for sale.

Last weekend we had to empty our stuff from the trailer, sad to say the buyer wanted the trailer to be delivered on 1st of May. Todd and I are still having the second thoughts of either keeping or selling it for nothing is wrong with the unit but, we have to take precautions before the price of gas gets to the roof. If that time comes then we will be stuck with it.

I hope we made the right decision. We can still go on camping using inexpensive gadgets but with less comfort than what we have. Once the trailer will be gone all is left for us are memories that we can reminisce.
