Happy to be Back

I am happy to be back on blogging. It has been two years since my last entry. A lot of things have happened in the last two years that I was away from blogging. Anyways, I am glad to be back to writing my experiences again.

Today I celebrate my birthday on a Good Friday. I am thankful for the Lord Almighty for giving me another milestone of my life. I am so blessed to have my loving husband, supportive sisters, relatives, friends and colleagues all through the year.

Today we commemorate Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. May you all have a blessed Good Friday.

Belated Happy Easter

Belated Happy Easter to all. I apoligize for the delayed greeting. I just went to chruch to hear the Easter mass. We were busy doing some work on the trailer to be ready for the camping season.

Last weekend we were invited for dinner at my friend's house it was their post easter celebration. The food were delicious. Early during the day we went to the trailer open house to see their stocks, for we were thinking of trading our unit to a bigger one if the price is right. It didn't happen though for the deal was not good. I figured it will be an added expense anyway the one we have is still in good shape. Practicality comes first especially with the present economic situation wherein jobs are no longer stable.

Good Friday

Good Friday is a religious holiday commemorating the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death in Golgotha. I miss the celebration of the Holy Week back in the Philippines. We always do the Visita Iglesia on Maundy Thursday going to 13 different Catholic churches. During the day we usually go to Good Shepard to do our Station of the Cross. Not only that I also miss all the native foods that we prepare for the Good Friday. All the food that are "ginataan" (coconut milk)from biko (sweet sticky rice), binignit (native fruit salad),ginataang monggo(green monggo with coconut milk, tinap-anan (smoked fish) and a lot more. Though it is a day of fasting but we have lots of food to munch on. No meat for that day only seafoods and vegetables. We do attend the procession of Holy Wednesday and Good Friday. I just miss all these activities. It is totally different here in the foreign land we don't have all of these. There are still celebration of Mass in the chruch but I don't think they do the procession. We also do the Vigil at night right after the procession on Good Friday.

I remember when I was still a kid that my Mama used to tell us to stop playing after 3pm (after the death of Jesus on a Good Friday) for you get wounded it won't heal fast. Those were just the days. I miss my Mama and my Papa so much. Wish they are still around.

When It Rain It Pours

It has been awhile I have not made any posting to my blog. I am glad to be back. I have been very occupied for the past month. A lot of stress have come along the way. At the start of March my sister who is 4 months pregnant phoned me that her laboratory results were alarming. She is positive for Trisomy 18 known as "Edwards Syndrome" which made the whole family worried. Her doctor advised she will still deliver the baby but the baby will die after few hours. I told her if it is meant for you than God will grant it, if not then you have to let go. It was a bad news but we never loose hope and our faith to God. We offered prayers asking for God's help to change the diagnosis. Her doctor advised to go 4d ultrasound,to see if the baby physical appearance is normal or a needle will be injected to her placenta to get a fluid to determine the baby condition. She opted to have the 4d or level 2 ultrasound for the needle work is risky of having a miscarriage. When the ultrasound was performed everything was very normal the baby she has in her womb is 8oz and all the physical features are normal. Thanks God her baby is normal and the laboratory work indicating as positive was just a possibility. Thanks God for hearing our prayers. There is nothing impossible in prayers if you have faith.

My eldest sister went for a visit to Cebu to be with my other sister. Instead of enjoying her stay trying to be away from all the stress in life. She got a phone call that her eldest son needs to be hospitalize due to potassium deficiency. That was his second attack the first one was more serious. He was hospitalized for 3 days and was able to recover. Praise God for your goodness. Hope he will be careful and will take care of himself.

With the economic down turn, Todd's job has been affected especially working for an automotive industry. Job security is no longer guaranteed which add more stress to him not knowing whether his company will stay open or not. He was laid off for a week and good thing he was back to work after a week. It is still up in the air but at least he is still working. Another blessing to be thankful.

March 18 was my Mama's birthday. She should have turned 70 this year but she didn't make it. My sister had a little celebration back in the Philippines honoring her birthday even though she is no longer around. I miss greeting her on the phone and sending a birthday card, she is no longer there. Life must go on without her for Mama won't be happy to see us her children sad.

My work has been stressing my as well. It has been very hard letting people to pay their debts especially with the recession that has been going on. A lot of them have lost their jobs and can no longer afford to pay their obligations. I know I can care less for them for I don't know them but I still have my emotions for them. Hope things will be better soon.

We were planning to go away during the Holy Week to visit my sister's family in South Carolina but we just made it earlier in time that he was laid off from work. We did have good trip stayed at my sister's place for the few nights and headed to Mrytle Beach to camp at Ocean Lake Resort. It was a nice time to unwind after all of the spice of life.

God is good all the time. Thank you Lord.

There is no storm that passes in our lives that we can't tackle if we just keep our FAITH in God and He won't leave us alone.

Philippine Goods

Last Saturday Todd took me to Yuan Ming Supermarket in Missaguaga about an hour drive from home. I heard it from my friend that the Asian store is huge and their prices are cheap. It was my first time to be there and oh boy I was really surprise and happy to be there. I shopped alot of goods from back home. I had fresh fish, shrimps w/ head, fresh squid and a milkfish. I also bought some squid rings for calamare. There were lots of goodies from home from chippy, cheese curls, oishi, nagaraya, boy bowang, mix nuts and so much more. I bought a lot of junk foods. I had some frozen "bulinao" small fish. I had ampalaya which I cook it last Sunday with bag-ong (sauted shrimp) and fried fish. It was a very yummy dinner.

Todd likes siopao so we bought some too. They have a restaurant also with Chinese and Filipino cuisine. You can also buy lechon by pounds. They have a bakery section also I just love their raisin and coconut bread taste like the bread at home.

It will still be awhile before we can go back there. Todd told me to buy a lot like a month supply. I told my friend that I went there and told her that I did enjoy my shopping wish I could buy them all, lol.

A Trip To South Carolina

Every year Todd and I goes for a vacation. It is our way of treating ourselves for working hard through the year. We take our dogs with us so it is always a land trip for they can't be on the plane. Last year we went to Tennessee to spend Christmas with my sister’s family. We were just using the map we got from travel insurance company.

This coming April 9-15 we are going to South Carolina to visit my other sister and spend Easter with them. It would be very nice to have a Garmin NUVI 260 Portable GPS that will make our travel hassle free. I am glad I found cheap deals at http://www.shopwiki.com/ for the GPS we have been eyeing to buy for future trips. This is a perfect gift for Todd on his birthday before we go away.

Since it will be a very long trip I need to entertain myself while traveling. I need a Portable DVD Player so that I can watch movies on the road. I would also need a new Luggage Set that is light weight and spacious for our clothes and other travel needs.

Hope we will enjoy our coming trip to South Carolina where the weather is warm.

Pimples

Anyone having pimples? It has been awhile I didn't have any pimples on my face. I just notice I have one on my leftside of my forehead and another one on my left chin. They just both started to swell and they are painful too. I guess nobody wants to have pimples. I might be stress or it is part of my PMS.

My sister gave my Pro Active and I always use them everytime I get a pimple. Pro Active is really effective for me. Once I put the Pro Active repairing lotion the pimple doesn't even have the chance to grow.

Hope these pimples heal soon.

Weekend House Cleaning

Last weekend I was busy cleaning the house. It has been a while I haven't done general cleaning. I vaccum the carpets almost every week but lately have not made my dusting of the walls and the furnitures. It took most of my day last Saturday. It was a through general cleaning from the living room to the kitchen and all the bathrooms.

I re-decorated the house too. My late mother-in-law had lots of collections of teddy bears which were just placed in basement. I brought them in the living room just for a change of scene in the house. Since I came here the kitchen has never been change it still has motif of teddy bears. I know it doesn't sound right but I kept it same as it is for her memory.

I had to spray the floor to keep it shinny. It is just very nice to stay in a clean and clutter free house.

I can't wait for Spring to come so that I can clean rake my garden. It is still too cold to do some work outside.

Family Day w/ Friends

Today is the family day holiday here in Canada but it was not applicable to all workers. I invited my friends to come over for dinner. I prepared dinugguan, breaded shrimp, calamare, pancit palabok and grilled milkfish. I made some bucayo(sweetened young coconut strips) and my friend brought a blueberry cheesecake.

We had a sumptous dinner. I am happy that they all like the food that I cook. It is nice to eat Filipino dishes. I like to cook but I don't feel like eating after when I am alone. It was nice to be with company around.

System Error

When I arrived to work today I was surprise most of the representatives were just outside of the production floor. It was because we had some issues with our systems. Some were able to take calls and continue with the work and others were not. When I log in to my computer there I find out that my system was also down. I was just waiting for it to come back on. After 3 hours it did come back but not for everybody and I was one of them. I don't know what was the error. I felt so bored waiting and waiting for it to came back so that I can work. Around ten to six I ask my supervisor what will I do, they just said to wait. I feel bad for most of them were already busy taking calls and there I am just sitting pretty doing nothing. I approached her again around seven o'clock and she told me that I can either stay or go home it won't go against my attendance. I just decided to go home and enjoy my evening. It would have been nice to stay and get paid without doing anything but I am also bothered by my conscience. Anyway, the rest of us that the system didn't work were also sent home.I got home early tonight, I will just make up my hours tomorrow. Hopefully everything will be back to business.

My sister is 9 weeks pregnant her 3rd child after 6 years. At first she couldn't believe that she is pregnant even though it shows as positive on the test. Last week she went to see her ob-gyne and there she has accepted it that is 9 weeks pregnant. Her doctor didn't have a hard time locating the heartbeat of her baby. The baby's heartbeat is good and it sounds so loud. The baby is now starting to develop its body parts and moves so fast.

We are very excited and happy w/ my sister's pregnancy. Wish everything will be fine with her pregnancy.

It is Saturday once again my day to relax and do the household work. It is my day to be off from work, yahoo :). It is nice to away from the stressful work environment. I was up very late last night till 2:30 early morning. I was chatting with my officemates back home. We were discussing about how tough the times now especially the economy. I also told them that it is not just in the Philippines but it is all over the world. Everybody is feeling the crunch even at where I work. We were informed yesterday that for any salary increases for the year 2009 will be freeze. We thought we will loss our job already. We just said that is not that bad at least we are still working and overtime is still available. One of my friend I was talking to really understood what is life abroad for she was just here 5 months ago. She even said that she told her family and friends that earning dollars is not easy for you have to spend in dollars too. I told her you just need to be very hardworking to survive if you live here. You can't depend on anybody but to yourself for survival.

Small Pet World

My workmate Vanna and I always talk each other about our American Cocker Spaniel dogs. She have a 9 year old male doggy. She said the other day after work she had to run after to her dog because it brush off when she open their main door. She said her doggy did that so many times that at one point he was really lost. Good thing that he has a tag on with their phone # and her neighbor on the other block brought her dog back. As I told her that my doggy is very behave she doesn't take off at all even if the front door is open. She laughed when I told her that Todd groomed Misty it wasn't done right. My poor doggy looks like a butchered dog. As Todd would say she is like a dog from the street.

I ask her how old was her dog and where did she get it from. When she said that her doggy is 9 years old and was born on April 9, 2000. I told her that my doggy is also 9 years old and was born also on April 9, 2000. I begun to wonder if our dogs are siblings. When she said they got it from Dunville there I confirmed that they are really siblings for we got Misty from Dunville too. It was really a small world for our doggies. I want to see a picture for her dog and she wants to see a picture of Misty too.

I love my doggies they are our companion at home and are very loyal buddies. Misty and Joel has been great dogs. They always stay behind us and wait as to when I have to go to bed.

Cold Saturday

It is the weekend once again. Time flies so fast we are now almost in the middle of January. My week has been very busy at work. In fact they have been asking us to do overtime work on the weekend but I didn't commit to come to work. It is nice to have a day off after working for straight 5 days in a row. Glad to have my day off from work even though they were asking us to do some overtime hours. I will just try to come early next week on my regular work shift. Todd and I just went to the Niagara Square today just to wander around the mall. It was pretty quite not busy at all. I think that is always the trend after the holidays people minimize their shopping spree for this month will be the time to pay back the expense they had for the holidays. We were looking for the pet store that we used to go just to look around for puppies for sale but they went under 2 years ago. Since it was closer to lunch we bought food at their foodcourt and off we headed to go to Homer's Meats. We usually buy at meat the butcher shop all is fresh and a lot cheaper from the grocery store. In there I can also buy some pork with fat in it once in awhile it is good to have them.

It has been gloomy today ang very cold we were at -5 celcius this morning and it snowed till tonight. It will still be a long way to go before winter will be done. We still have 2 more months of this cold atmosphere.

Holidays Are Over

Today is the last day of my holiday from work. I will be back to work tomorrow. I know it won't be easy to be at work after being off for two weeks but I have to do it for I need the money. I wish I will win in the lottery and I don't have to worry about going to work. I am still thankful that I still have a job especially with the economy right for a lot of companies have closed. In fact my husband is being laid from work for a week hope it won't go too long. The demand for their product is slow. He is working for the automotive industry. I hope that their will plant will be able to survive with the economic crisis and they won't close it. I have to motivate myself to work more hours to get more money back.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. My greetings is very late for I was gone for the holidays. We spent Christmas in Tennessee with my sister's family. It was a long drive for us good enough we didn't hit any snow storm on our way there. We arrived at two o'clock in the morning of December 25th had to dropped by to her place twice but there were already asleep. We didn't bother to knock on her door just check in at Quality Suites, which cost us a lot of money just for the night. We had to pay $25.00 for each pet. It was a lesson learned travelling with your pets can be costly better to bring your own unit like a trailer that you can stay.

We did have fun spending time with my sister's family and her kids. We went on shopping and buying gifts for the kids (video games that they wanted). We didn't spend so much especially that my husband is laid off from his work. Hope it won't be too long for that. We basically went there on a cheap budget what is most important that we were able to have a get together with my sisters and with their kids as well. All of us were happy to find out that my sister is pregnant with her third baby. It was not planned at all but there is nothing you can but just to accept it. Being pregnant is the most wonderful gift and a blessing that you can have. There is such a 6 years gap from her second child, hope it will be a girl this time. She has 2 boys now. She will give birth just in time for Mama's 1st death anniversary. Our dearly beloved Mama left us but we are happy to welcome my sister's baby a new addition to our family.

We also went to see some winter attractions at the Ice Musuem in Nashville, TN. An ice sculptor of the Grinch I just admire the artist that makes the sculpture. It is very pretty. It was also nice to get away from the cold weather. We were just wearing t-shirts out in the sun but for my sister it was already cold for them. The day before we leave they took us to the Memphis Zoo to see the festival of lights. My nephew wanted to see the bats and other animals but it was close better go there during the day. I did see a raindeer that was my first time. That night was a bit cold but we took some pictures with the lights.

We were thinking of extending our stay at my sister's house for another day but we don't want to hit any snow storm on our way back. On our way home about 2 hours from home when we hit the snow storm out in Erie, PA. We made it safe to home about 4 hours.

Hope you had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year. I just wish it will be a fruitful year for 2009 for all of us. Hoping we will be able to get out of this economic crisis we are facing right now.

Kahit Isang Saglit

The teleserye I am watching everday entitled "Kahit Isang Saglit" by Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo will have its grand finale this coming December 12, 2008. The story is very nice and not a common teleserye that you see on tv. I congratulate all the staff from the writer, director, crew and especially Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo they perform really at their best. You can never predict the next episode and it has lots of suspense, drama and love story as well.

I will definitely missed the show and the characters on this teleserye.

Sunday Mall Strolling

The automatic starter of my car was finally installed we waited for almost 3 hours from them to do it. We had it done at Future Shop while waiting we just stroll around the mall and had some window shopping. I was just surprised for the mall was not that busy it was pretty steady. Usually at this time of the year they are really busy and pack I think this is due the economic crisis the whole world is facing right now. People that has the money are holding on to it for the future.

I am happy that it was installed and it is really good when the weather is very cold. I can even start it from 3,000 meters away before I got off from work my car is ready and warm. It is really good for the winter season it helps melt the snow right away.

Snowy Saturday

It is just nice to cuddle in bed and have a relaxing Saturday. We had the snow since Friday evening when I got out from work it was snowing so heavy. It was very hard to drive back home I just took my time and slow down. It was very slippery and it was so hard to let my car stop on the traffic, thought it will continue to slid, thanks God it did stop eventually.

Today it is still snowing pretty heavy. There is nothing I can do for this weather. Todd and I went to his Aunt's house to help her put up the curtains she can't do it by herself.

I am glad I am off from work. We are just staying at home and warming ourselves and enjoying the night.

Long Hour Shift

I did start my long shift today. It wasn't that bad for the time went so fast for I was busy at work too. I was just surprise when I come in to work today for they have another changes on the system we are currently using. The sad thing is there was no training provided it was an on the spot learning. I am glad I was able to adjust using the system after a few hours but I still have to learn a lot from it. It will just come in due time.

I made delicious menudo (saucey ground pork with cubes carrots, potato and red pepper) for my dinner at work tonight. I made it earlier today before going to work that was also my lunch. I brought a lot to work to share it with my friend (Filipina) I also worked with. She is likes it very much and she also shared her food which is "fried bolinaw" its like an omelet of small fish or a fish patty.
We had a good dinner tonight at work savoring the dishes we prepared.

It is Friday once again I am glad for it will be my last day of my work week. It is Friday and it will be my pay day I am just excited to get my pay check with my bonus on it. I will also find out when I go to work today about my new schedule. Starting December 1, 2008 they are changing our work schedule I hope I will get what I bid for. I bid for an afternoon shift from 2:30-11:00 at night Mon-Friday with the weekends off. They will base it on our performance and statistic of dollars collected. With their basis on granting on the schedule I wanted I am sure I pass with their standards but I am not giving myself false hopes. Hope I will be happy with schedule they allocate for me.

Winter is here we have a blast of snow today. It was snowing so bad while I was still at work. After work I had to clean my car before I can leave the parking lot. I slept very late last night I had a chat with my family back in the Philippines. We had a phone conversation thru yahoo messenger. I am thankful for yahoo for this service for I get to save a lot of money from the long distance bills. I had a great time talking to them. My sister from Davao and two for her kids went to Cebu to attend the All Soul's Day celebration to offer prayers and visit to the grave of our parents. This is our first All Soul's Day celebration without my Mama for she just passed away two months ago. I miss them and the attending the celebration also. They went to the cementry early in the morning to bring the flowers and candles. Mass for the souls was celebrated at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, after they had their dinner at the grave of my parents. My niece said she will be sharing photos to me once she gets back to Davao.

Hope I can visit them again soon. I want that on my next visit I will make it in time for Christmas.

It has been two months now that my beloved Mama has passed away. I was there at her wake and took some pictures I didn't even view them again for it just hurts me. Todd downloaded it for me after I arrived back to Canada. Yesterday I missed her so bad that the incident keeps on coming back to my mind why she has to leave. I started to open the pictures and seeing her lifeless body again just broke me into tears. I just miss her so much before while she was still alive it just easy to call her on the phone and I can hear her voice.

It is very important to value them while they are still alive. I will continue to cherise happy moments together with my Mama dear.

KO System

I was very exhausted yesterday at work for we just launched our new system. It was our first day yesterday to use the KO system in collections. It was totally different from the old system we used we had training for about 10 hours for the new system. It is hard to absorb things for a short period of time, the learning process starts on day 1 that we used the system. Oh my God, my updating yesterday was pretty in handling the calls for I get to familiarize myself with all the codes and commands to go to the different screen to find information. I am still thankfull I was able to finish my shift and my clients on the phone were very understanding also.

I was also happy for the head of our client came over to my desk and handed me a THANK YOU card and a $50 dollar gift card to the Pen Center for being one of the top collectors of my team. Iam proud and happy with what I achieve for the job I am doing right now is not my career I am into.

I hope I will get the hang of it with the new system.

Snooze off for Bed

I had a busy Saturday from doing laundry, grocery shopping and preparing for dinner. Earlier today we went to Hommer's Meat a butchershop here in Stevensville, Ontario. I like to buy meat from them for it is fresh and cheaper from than the usual grocery store and I get to buy pork meat with the skin and fat on it. It is good to have them once in awhile but not all the time. We bought some breakfast sausage and pork tenderloin and baby back ribs. I had to put them in a cut them into piece depending on what recipe it calls for and stock them in the freezer for about 2 weeks consumption. Dishes were waiting for me too, rinse them and loaded them in the dishwasher.

I went online to check on some recipes that will be good for my meat for the week. I watched some shows at pinoychannel.tv while watching I was also doing my knitting it is a scarf. I am now ready for bed to relax my tired body. I have to get up early for church too.

Blood Work

I had my blood work done today the laboratory close by the home. I had fasting the night before to have my blood work. My doctor ordered a lot of test about 5 vials of blood were extracted from my right arm. The medtech was good for she was able find my vein right on the first try but it left a little bruise on it. The test were ordered due to my dizziness, checks my cholesterol, glucose, creatine, hemoglobin and there is one more which I forgot. Hopefully the test result will be fine.

Anyways I am just here at home right now enjoying my day off. Its nice to be Friday once again. Have a nice weekend guys.

Wow I am lucky today for I was able to grab opps after such a long time. I was not easy to get it; it was still available when I saw it but after answering their cache question it just said all posts are taken. Another thing also I am not aware that I am only allowed to grab up to 3 posts in a day. I was so excited to grab another one worth $20 for 50 words but it turned out that I was already up to my limit. I felt sad better luck next time. It's Thanksgiving day today here in Canada. Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians. Most of them celebrated the thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I don't have turkey for dinner tonight for it is too big for a family of two. I have marinated chicken breast last night with swiss chalet chicken marinade that will be for dinner tonight.

It is a time to thank our Lord for all the blessings we have received for the year.

Thought of the Day: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

We are heading out to the Queenston Heights it is nice and sunny today.

Vision Problems

For the past few weeks I have been feeling light headed and dizzy at times. My stomach is upset it feels like I wanted to throw up. I felt the pain at the back of neck. I thought I was pregnant but I was wrong. I suspect that I have problems with my vision especially that my work requires most of the time working in the computer. At the end of my shift at work I always have that feeling even if I am at home doing surfing the net. The glare of the monitor screen gives me a lot headaches.

I should start to limit my hours in the computer and let my eyes rest. I think I need an eyeglasses that protects the glare. I will have my eye doctor's appointment on Friday next week. Hope it won't be that bad.

Stroll at Walden Galeria

Autumn is already here and it is one of the seasons that I like especially when the color of the leaves starts changing it beautiful colors. Over the weekend our weather was gorgeous we it was sunny and not so cold. Temperature was about 20-25 degrees celcius; it only gets chilly after sunset.

As we drove on our way to the border the scenery was just beautiful with the leaves changing from green to yellow; green to red and shades of orange. I wish I had my camera with me to take pictures on the way. In my neighborhood right now colors of the leaves are not that great compared to the one I saw today.

We went to walden galeria mall just to window shop and find deals. There were some items on for 50-70% like end of season sale. I just bought a fleece jacket for I need for the coming colder months. Some were still expensive even if they were already discounted. I didn't spend a lot though especially with the economy right now. I want to debt free which is what I am aiming right now. It is too tiring to keep on working and most of it will just go to bills. I did good though for my credit card is now zero balance. Regular utility bills are just the bills to look forward and house mortage. Thanks God!

My legs are tired from walking we were there about 4 hours. I am sleepy right now. Hope to take good pictures of the changing leaves.

Sunday Reflections

I went to chruch to attend the first mass at 7:45 am. Thanks God though I slept very late last night I was still able to make it to the first mass. It was nice to be at the Lord's house today. Fr. Paul, a Filipino priest officiated the mass. The Gospel for today is from Mattew 22:1-14, Jesus comparing to the kingdom of God to wedding feast for a son of king. In the gospel as group of people were invited to attend the wedding feast (God's kingdom) but they ignored the invitation; others gave light to it, one went to his farm and other did his own business. The king decided to send his servants and invite as many as they could. The gospel tells us today that many are called but a few are chosen. God called his people to be a part of his kingdom but only a few are chosen to be him.

After the mass I get to chit chat with Fr. Paul for a short while and he introduced Sr. Cristela to me. Sr. Cristela a Filipino nun from Cotabato, Mindanao and doing her charity work here in Canada at the Holy Rosary Parish. She just came over five months ago. It was nice to meet her and we talk also for a bit, especially that we can converse in the same dialect.

I will try the first mass every Sunday. It feels good to be there early and nothing to worry about for the day.

New Look

I just change the look of my blog. It is now with the shades of blue instead from black. It matches with my header picture. New look refreshes my blog and so that my visitors won't be bored with my style.

This will be a new journey in life without my Mama. She may not be around physically but I am sure she is now my guarding angel. She is still watching me I just won't be able to see her but I can feel her presence.

Off from Work

I didnt go to work yesterday. I had stomach flu and terrible headache. I was ready to go out of the door I just felt like our housing is turning around. That was how bad my headache. I had my upset stomach since Sunday evening thought It will be better by Monday but it got worst. I took some medicines and hot water and have some rest. It is a lot better now the sad thing I have to come to work early today to make up for my hours. No sick pay :(, hay life.

Economic Downfall

A lot of manufacturing companies have closed here in my place and have moved the jobs to other 3rd world counteries due to cheap labor. It has greatly affected to alot of people especially the ones that are laid off from work. I know that in the US right now that have big problem with their economy and most like it will also affect us here in Canada which I am seeing it already. Most of the American firms here are closed for they want to bring back the business back to their homeland.

Like me working as a collector representative for a bank, it is getting very hard to let people pay their debts especially that our clients are from the US. I feel sorry and sad for a lot of them have lost their jobs and is just barely living enough to survived. They couldn't tell as when they can make their payments for they still have to look for jobs they are just concentrating of their basic needs like food and shelter.

My husband is even worried of the place he works for especially that it is an american firm and into automotive business. If people doesn't have jobs how can they afford to buy new cars. It will affect the whole market.

I hope we the recession won't be too long and businesses would be able to recover. I hope that there will be more job opportunities in stored for this country.

Monday Busyness

I always drag myself to go to work on a Monday. I don't know why maybe it is the first day at work. It nice to stay home for the weekend but I need to work too. I went to work today earlier than my scheduled shift about half hour early. My goal was to go there like to 2 hrs before my shift to do some over time but it didn't happen. I need to work more hours especially it is almost Christmas and with the economic situation right now. I need to save for the coming rainy days.

It was very busy at work today. It was from call after call people are calling in to make their loan payments over the phone. My throat hurts and I was trying to catch my breath. Some customers are nice some are upset about no receiving their statements. What can I do statements are sent out every month; I can't control the mail or I can't control it also if the statements were mistaken as junk mail. To satisfy them all I can do is negotiate to waive their past due fees and to make payment.

I went online to grab some Opps at 3P's tonight but I didn't have the luck it just turned out gray :(. It has been so hard to grab those opportunities now and especially google just dump my pr from 3 to 0. I hope I can get it back but I don't know when and how. Well, I think I'll just have to keep my eyes open and wait for other opportunities to come.

I hope I can be there for work early tomorrow too.

Household Chores on Saturday

Saturday is my day to be domesticated. It is a day for my laundry, cleaning the house and all other stuff that needs to be done at home. I got up late this morning for I felt so tired. Todd was already doing the front breaks of his car. I sat with him outside while he was doing the front breaks and chat for a bit. It was already almost noon that I started my laundry doing the towels, jeans, and shirts and lastly all the whites. While doing my laundry we went to Wal-mart to pick up some groceries. The store was so crowded I didn't know its the start of their anniversary celebration there deals too. We just got what we need and got some stuff that were on sale.

After we got home for groceries, we went to Emerald Chinese Buffet for dinner. OMG food was great they had my favorite calamare. I still have clothes to fold now and some more loads to do.

We missed this year's Grape and Wine Parade. I saw it before and Todd said the floats were budget so its not worth it going again this year.

Time Flies

The week have gone so fast in just a wink of an eye it was already Friday. It has been a month yesterday that my Mama have died and have left us her children. I am moving on with her lost. I am just glad our parents left us that we are already old enough to look for ourselves. I would be hard if they left us while we were still young. I still have sleepless nights and cry over her lost. I missed her voice, her laughter over the phone, and especially her cooking. I have been dreaming of her that she came back to life but it was just a dream. I could have turned back the time I wish I could have spend time on her last moments alive. I think my coming over to Canada has reasons to for her own good also. I wouldn't have been able to help in all her medical expenses I didn't left. We would still be able to survive with my income in the Phils but it will be very hard to tackle all her medical bills. Having a dialysis in the Philippines would cost you a fortune. Mama was with it for almost 3 years but no matter what were the expenses as long as it has extended and made her life comfortable. I know at the very end on the last four days she was alive as what would my sister would say it was a painful battle for her. Mama was a very religious person her faith has kept her strong. I know that right now she is happy together with my Papa in the safe hands of our forgiving God.

We love you both Ma and Pa; and will be forever thankful for making us what we are now. Both of you will always be in our hearts everywhere we go into this world.

Hope to see you soon as you meet us in heaven when our time comes to return back to our Creator.

Glad to be in the house of the Lord today. I got up early enough this morning to catch the mass at Holy Rosary Church. There are only a few schedule of masses here on Sundays; only 3 in total mass on a Sunday.

Today's gospel from Matthew 20: 1-16 "For the kingdom of heaven is like...." Jesus is showing his disciples the contradictions between the ways of the world and the ways of the kingdom. Today's reflection is all about how universally generous He is and does not give us what we deserve, but rather what Love chooses to give. He is a loving and a forgiving God.

Physical and Emotional Pain

After Mama's funeral I had a few days before my flight back to Canada. I spent my remaining days bonding with my sisters; my other two sisters already went home on the 7th of Sept. The day before my flight back my sister brought lechon (roasted pig) from CNT (one of the good lechon makers in Cebu). The lechon was no longer hot when my sister got home. I voluntered to re heat it in the oven. The oven has not been used for a long time; since I left Cebu. I wanted to try it if it will still work. I didn't use my common sense when I lighted the oven; I could have rolled a piece of paper and use it to light the oven instead of just using the matchstick. I turned the oven switch too much that a lot of gas kick in when i lighted it. It caught fire on my right hand. When you get burn you don't feel the pain right away, I was very calm telling my sister that I got burned not feeling the pain right away. After a few seconds I started to feel the pain and soreness on my fingers, I felt like they were all chopped. I let water run to my fingers and put ice on it. I can tolerate pain but with the burns I got it was very painful. When my sister saw it she said I had 2nd degree burns, it formed blisters right away. Immediately, she told my other sister to go the drugstore and buy some cream for burns. I took pain reliever and it didn't take effect right away. I was in doubt whether to go to the hospital waiting for the pain reliever to kick in but it took so long that I decided to go the hospital. I was also worried I might not be allowed to board the plane seeing my fingers with open wound.

We decided to go the hospital just to get the certificate and the doctor gave me some antibiotics as well for faster healing and for the infection. I am glad they didn't give me any hassle boarding probably they didn't notice it also.

It took awhile to heal. Yesterday the burned skin starts to peel off and leaving fresh scars on it. Aloe vera is a great help too it cools it down. I didn't even have the chance to eat the lechon.

It wasn't a good time to be back home; it seems like I was doubly hurt both physically and emotionally. With Mom's passing I am still on the denial stage right now and hoping the wounds in my heart will heal in time and be able to accept the reality that she is now gone.

Cruising w/ Delilah @ 96.1

Last night while driving on my way home after work I'd love to listen to 96.1 were the DJ is Delilah. Listening to her voice makes me feel better after a hard day at work. Her voice is very soothing and it can help me unwind. It gives me a break from listening to all the political problems in the world.

One of her callers last night had a very sad story of her child. She has been married for eight years and never had a child so they decided to go on with fertility test. Luckily she got pregrant but sad to say on her 36 weeks she gave birth but the baby died upon birth. She doesn't know what was the cause; I feel sad listening to her story. I find it very unfair on her part not even able to hold her baby on her arms. She was crying on the phone while she shares her story. I admire her courage and her trust in the Lord. She said the child is not meant for them though it hurts her. She now has an angel watching over her and her family. I just forgot the title of the song that Delilah played for her and her baby Georgia.

I hope she will find happiness and contentment with her life right now. May she be blessed with another child from God soon.

Back to Work

It was my first day to be back to work after my bereavement leave. I didn't feel like going back to work after being off for 15 days. I guess the feeling is normal especially it was also Monday. There were a few changes and updates at work, which my Manager gladly showed it to me. Every one was happy to see me back, some didn't know that I was away.

It was very busy at work the volumes of inbound call was very high. People were calling in to make their payments over the phone. Oh boy, I was exhausted on my first day to be back to work. I had a short briefing of the updates and I started to take calls right away. Good thing I its all in my memory.

After the storm that comes in life, the sun is always there to shine. Life goes on no matter what.

Happiness is Pets

Do you have pets in your home? We have Misty an American Cocker Spaniel and Joel, a Chihuahua. Happiness is Pets, we find happines, enjoyment, good company, and loyalty in our dogs. Misty is eight years old, blonde hair and in a cocker spaniel hair cut, very lovable emotional, friendly and a safe pet to have especially if you have kids. On the other hand Joel, our little Chihuahua is year older than Misty. He follows you around where ever you go and likes to cuddle with you all the time.

My dogs are my stress reliever, my companion and my friend. We love them and treat them as part of our family.

Relaxing Sunday

Happy Sunday to all. Hope you had a relaxing Sunday. Glad that hurricane Ike is over we had rains and it was gloomy outside. We wanted to go to Niagara Falls for a walk but our neighbor said the storm will hit at 4 o'clock in the afternoon but it never did. Todd and I decided to go to Wal-Mart to look around for a connector wire for the trailer hitch. We didnt find it at Wal-Mart but we got it a Canadian Tire. We went for a short joy ride and headed back home.

Nothing special we did at home just relaxing watching tv and I was folding my laundry. We both have to go back to work after being off from work for three weeks. I know it will be hard to be back on the first day but we need to work. Life goes on after the storm.

Home Sweet Home

After 21 hrs of flying in the air I finally arrived to Canada my home. I was in the Philippines for 15 days for Mama's wake and burial. It was nice to see my family again but at the same time sad to be there to face the reality that Mama is now gone. The flight coming back was very long I had to wait for 6 hours in Atlanta, GA for my flight to Buffalo, NY. It wasn't the right timing to go back on 9-11 the airport security was very tight. I am very lucky they didn't open my luggage at the port of entry. They did open my sister's luggage and throw some of the canned goods she had in her luggage. Todd met me at the airport.

My leggs were all swollen from the long trip and just sitting on the plane. My left ear hurt so bad from the pressure especially that I had a runny nose until now it still bothers me. I still don't know when will be the next time I will be able to come for a visit to the Phils.
